During the official visit of Emmanuel Macron, the President of France, to Kazakhstan, a joint venture agreement was signed with Total Eren for the construction of wind power stations in Kazakhstan, boasting a total capacity of 1 GW.
Representing Kazakhstan’s side in this venture are Samruk-Kazyna JSC, a sovereign wealth fund and joint stock company in Kazakhstan, and JSC NC KazMunayGas, the state-owned oil and gas company of Kazakhstan. The project is slated for implementation in two stages: the initial stage will introduce a 300 MW capacity, with the subsequent addition of the remaining 700 MW.
The wind power station will be equipped with a power storage system, which aims to mitigate the risk of network instability due to variable wind generation.
Note: Total Eren, a leading French company in the global renewable energy sector, has a portfolio that includes over 2,400 MW of installed capacity and an additional 2,000 MW currently under development.
